The Life and Achievement of Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak
   

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak, passed away on November 13th, 2003, 3:30PM in Provena Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin Illinois at the age of 72 years and 8 months.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong was born at Ban Nakhon, tasseng Nambak, Muang Ngoi, Luang Prabang province in Laos.

1937 - through 1943 - He studied in a primary school at Nakhon Nambak.

1943 - At the age of 12, he was ordained to bea Novied 8 years learning to be Buddhist.

1952 - At the age of 21, he was ordained to become a Buddhist Monk at Wat Mai in LuangPrabang.

1952 - through 1954 - He studied Pali Buddhism High school at Wat Siphouthabat in LuangPrabang

1955 - through 1957 - He moved to Vientiane to continue his education at the Buddhist College at            Wat Sithan Neua.

1958 - 1961 - At wat Ong Tu is where he earned his B.A. degree. At that time, he was promoted by             minister of Department of Buddhist Religion to be the Secretary General of the University.

1961 - He was invited by the Buddhist members of Ban Dong-Mieng to set up a new temple. During            that time, he was elected to be the Head of the Temple.

1972 - He was granted a scholarship for continuing his study in Buddhism Philosophy at Magdh,            University Bodh-Gaya Province, India.

1977 - He graduated in Buddhism Philosophy by earning his M.A degree.

1980 - The United State Department of INS had allowed him to settle in the USA.

1982 - He was asked by the Supreme Patriarchate Royal of Lao to reform Lao Buddhist Monks            organization in the USA. During this time the Supreme Patriarchate ( Sangha-Raj ) was            stationed in Bangkok, Thailand.

2000 - He graduated earning his Ph.D degree in Buddhism Philosophy from Magadh University in            Bodh-Gaya Province, India.

1980 - 2003 - Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Banlusak was elected to be Chairman of the Lao Buddhist            Monks Association (LBMA) in the United States of America. During which he was re-elected            to be Chairman 12 different times. The LBMA has united and encouraged all members to            provide mutual assistance.

           Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak brought into existence, organized and            directed the following Temples without debts.

Dr. Phra Maha Singthong Thitadhammo Banlusak was the Lord of Abbot who was fully in charge of Wat Lao Buddharam in San Diego, California.
